This poster by Megan Whitmarsh titled Color Work Station on 20×200 exhausts me a little so I might need a break now. But I love it! Don’t you? I want to make my office this colorful.

Things that make me happy Part One:

Artists who know something about perspective like Grant Haffner at Visions West Galleries. Holy crap – these roads just go on and on.

When I look at this piece by Julien Denoyer  I smell Coppertone. Don’t you?

You know that part in Splash and Madison gets the wrapped gift from Tom Hanks and she gets so excited about the wrapping without realizing there is anything in the box? Well – ok that’s how I feel about this Pantone box from Sprout Home. I don’t know what I would put in it…and it doesn’t matter.

I couldn’t complete today without a quick mention of these delicate and curious wallpaper designs from Georgia Horton. I never pay attention to wallpaper…but these…oh yes.

Manhattan (New Standard)

• 2 dashes Angostura bitters
• 2 dashes gum syrup (you can leave this out)
• 1 dash absinthe (used Kubler)
• 2oz rye whiskey (used Rittenhouse bonded)
• 1oz sweet vermouth (used Carpano Antica)
• 1/4t maraschino liqueur (used Luxardo)
• lemon peel, for garnish

Stir with cracked ice and strain into your fanciest cocktail glass, which you’ve no doubt chilled to perfection. Twist the lemon peel on top and discard.

I think we should finish on a light note with art that is not serious.  Actually I don’t think – in general – that art should be serious. It should be here to add beauty to our lives. Right? While researching the world of art and where it fits into our daily lives I found a plethora of information about art therapy and how it is used to combat mental illness. Usually referred to as art therapy, art is taught in clinics and schools and is a way for those suffering from mental illness to communicate or to create through an art medium. While I appreciate the efforts and applaud those involved with art therapy –  what I was really looking for was how art is reflected in our daily lives and how it makes us healthier in simple everyday living.
