Auld Lang Syne
Wow – my last post for 2011! It’s been a great year and I’m not just saying this. I think the art world in general has done well and most artists I know personally have had a good year too. Perhaps there has been a rebirth in the art world – a new appreciation for culture if you will.
I have met so many new artists, posted about emerging and experienced and opened my world to new mediums and new looks. My goal in never basking in mediocrity continues. Mediocrity kills the soul – we must never aspire for that. And on that note I give you anything but mediocrity. Enjoy.
I love California – living here with all its beautiful spaces like sun and sand, snow and valleys, vineyards and forests. So this piece, A Day in California, from Ryan and Sheri Killackey (via Honestly WTF) is visually stunning. It includes 10,000 photographs of our lovely state composed into a time lapse photography exhibit.
And now Joe Baren brings us a truck and a dinosaur. What? You don’t believe it?
James Roper portrays figures woven into a confusing metaphor. The Convulsionaires.
Yes I want to be in Hawaii. Are we all good with that? I know Retro Love Photography understands.
Introducing The Kooples. Just watch because I’m not going to explain.
Circles on squares or within squares – when rendered correctly - add balance and symmetry to my day. Fragmented did not disappoint with Moments and Memories 2011.
***It was cold this morning. I shot this photo from my iPhone retro camera app.

Lastly – the lyrics to Auld Land Syne. I don’t really get them but I don’t care – it’s what you sing on New Years and that ‘s just the way it is.
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine† ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
