Saturday Mash – An Autumn Alternative
This morning I opened the Home and Garden section in the newspaper and proceeded to read a decorating column about fall decor. I was horrified – I reached for a bag to breathe into because I began to hyperventilate. Hay bales on my porch??? Corn and gourds on my coffee table? Plaid and flannel??? Oh please just stop the pain. If any of those items ever appear in my home you all have a right to slap me.
So – in contrast to traditional fall decor I offer you an alternative because it’s simply the right thing to do.
*just one more thing – I’m not into changing decor for seasons – I’m way too practical – however – it can be fun and doesn’t have to cost a lot.
Dia de los Muertos is just around the corner so decorate with candy skulls to add a festive yet ghoulish accent to your interior. Place on coffee tables, fireplace mantels or in the center of your breakfast table. This photo from Dimitri is delicious!
Chinese lanterns add global inspiration and a touch of orange with zen appeal.
***anyone like haunted tours? I do. Well – discover TRUE Hauntings in San Francisco on October 23rd – a full moon. Woooooooooooooo…….Not recommended for the faint of heart.
Who needs a real fire when you can have a fake one? This one that Allen found would work out just fine. And no soot.
Use your baby as a centerpiece. This pom pom hat from Rosy’s Touch not only keeps your baby’s head warm but makes a great accessory as well.
Light up those long nights with this vintage chandelier featuring decapitated heads.
Disturbing? Yes. Decorative? Absolutely
Bring the outside in with this fall inspired tree from the Creative ABD shop. No leaves to rake up.
Protect your table tops with Raven Coasters from Queenbe’s Shop. Did you ever think Fall decor could be so fun!
Have a great weekend. Do kind things – use kind words…
